What is CCR?

CCR is an emerging standard developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). The objective of CCR is to improve the continuity of patient care and minimize errors, while maximizing the accessibility, manageability, and exchangeability of key medical records, as outlined by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS), the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

Many of today’s medical technology providers use the phrase Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to describe their records management solution. But, while EMR is a broad term that encompasses many components, MDTRONIK’s newest solution (eScribe® II) is one of the industry’s first technology applications to meet and exceed CCR standards, thus we refer to it as CCR Plus. In addition to the requirements set by MMS, HIMSS, and AAFP, CCR Plus offers extra components, enabling medical providers to share additional images and report types, beyond the core requirements included in CCR standards.
